Drones target office of Iraqi Kurdish Prime Minister Masrour Barzani

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani

Explosive drones launched early Monday targeted the private office of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the home of the region’s security chief. Local security officials confirmed that neither strike resulted in casualties.

As reported by Al Jazeera, two Hadid-110 uncrewed aerial vehicles were utilized in the coordinated operation. Regional authorities reported that the platforms originated from Iranian territory, though officials did not specify if the drones successfully struck their intended targets.

KRG Prime Minister Barzani condemned the strike as an illegitimate action posing a direct threat to regional stability. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that nothing justifies the action, suggesting the incident was a false-flag operation designed to create friction between neighboring nations. Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has established an investigative committee to trace the flight paths, identify responsible parties, and initiate countermeasures.
