Ukrainian defense company Contra-drone has developed D-JACK, a specialized device designed to intercept control signals and sever the link between FPV drones and their operators. Unlike standard electronic warfare systems that rely on high-power radio frequency jamming, D-JACK detects the operator’s transmission and directly interferes with the communication protocol, cutting off command signals to the aircraft.
The system primarily targets FPV drones operating on analog signals, creating a no-fly zone with an effective range of up to one kilometer. Depending on terrain and local radio environment conditions, the maximum operational range can reach up to three kilometers. D-JACK features low power consumption, operating on a 12 to 24-volt power source at roughly 10 watts. This minimal draw allows the unit to run on standard battery power for up to 12 hours, making it suitable for stationary mounting on poles or trees.
Contra-drone has also engineered an airborne variant of the system. While the ground unit weighs approximately three kilograms, the flight-ready modification adds roughly 200 grams to an aircraft, enabling integration into reconnaissance or strike drones for protection against interceptor UAVs without significantly altering payload limits.
While D-JACK has not yet received official military codification within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the technology is undergoing active combat evaluation. The device is priced at approximately 2,000 euros.
