Norwegian defence company Kongsberg has signed a framework agreement with the U.S. Marine Corps for the production and sustainment of equipment for Naval Strike Missile (NSM) anti-ship missiles.
The agreement has a potential value of up to $404 million, with deliveries potentially continuing through 2034. However, this amount is not a fixed order value: the U.S. Marine Corps will place individual orders under the framework agreement.
The agreement covers NSM launchers, weapon control systems and associated support equipment. For the Marine Corps, these systems are linked to the Navy/Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS).
Within NMESIS, the NSM missile serves as the strike component of a mobile land-based system designed to engage maritime targets. The system combines an NSM launcher with a remotely operated ROGUE-Fires platform derived from the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, while weapon control is conducted from a separate command-and-control vehicle.
Kongsberg also states that NSM can be used against targets at sea and on land. The missile features a passive seeker, autonomous target recognition and a low-altitude sea-skimming flight profile.
Kongsberg announced the new framework agreement on September 28, 2026. The company said that individual significant orders under the agreement will be announced once they are placed.
