Turkish firm Roketsan tests ÇAKIR cruise missile from ground-based platform

Turkish defence company Roketsan has successfully tested its ÇAKIR cruise missile from mobile ground-based platforms, validating the weapon’s integration across multiple launch systems and expanding its operational capability beyond its previously demonstrated air-launch role.

During two separate firings, the missile struck both land and maritime targets with high precision while demonstrating an extended range enabled by a new fuel system. Although specific details regarding the launcher system remain undisclosed, visual imagery indicates the platform utilizes a Turkish 8×8 tactical vehicle. This was reported by NextGen Defense.

Weighing 275 kilograms and measuring 3.3 meters in length with a 275-millimeter diameter, the turbojet-powered cruise missile delivers a range exceeding 150 kilometers and carries a 70-kilogram payload. The weapon accommodates multiple warhead variants, including high-explosive, semi-piercing, blast-fragmentation, and thermobaric options. Its guidance and navigation suite integrates an inertial navigation system, an anti-jam global navigation satellite system, and terrain-referenced navigation. Designed for deployment across fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, combat drones, unmanned surface vessels, and wheeled vehicles, the system is engineered to operate across diverse domains.
