European Commission allocates €3.3 billion to Ukraine under a large-scale support program. The funds will be used to purchase critical types of weaponry, specifically drones and missiles, to defend against Russian aggression.
This is the fourth payment made under the defense window of the special credit package. In total, since the beginning of the year, the European Commission has allocated nearly €15 billion to Kyiv, covering both military needs and budget support. The assistance comes as part of a long-term €90 billion initiative spanning 2026–2027, according to a press release from the European Commission.
As Brussels emphasizes, the speed of equipment delivery to the front line remains a key factor. To achieve this, European institutions continue to accelerate supplies through destocking, reprioritizing orders, and ramping up industrial production.
In addition to current financial tranches, the European Commission is preparing a new initiative jointly with Ukraine. The program involves creating a European air and missile defense system based on the Freya anti-ballistic system, combining the combat experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Europe’s industrial potential.
