Lockheed Martin and GM Defense delivered the first batch of mission-critical components for PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptor missiles just 22 days after signing a formal contract.
The agreement was signed on August 6, and by August 28, Lockheed Martin received the initial housing components. While manufacturing cycles of this scale traditionally take months or even years in the defense sector, leveraging the commercial manufacturing power of an automotive giant drastically compressed the timeline, according to Lockheed Martin.
To meet exacting defense specifications, GM Defense applied its advanced casting and machining capabilities. According to Lockheed Martin leadership, this partnership serves as a clear example of how merging world-class commercial manufacturing with defense supply chain practices rapidly translates into enhanced battlefield readiness.
This milestone is part of Lockheed Martin’s broader wartime-urgency strategy to scale munitions production.
