Several unmanned aerial systems and debris fragments have washed ashore along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast over recent days, prompting security cordons and investigations by Navy specialists and Border Police.
Authorities recovered an uncharged 2-meter drone on Kabakum beach near Varna, while separate debris fragments were located on Pasha Dere beach. Additional incidents involved a decoy drone between Albena and Kranevo, parts in the Rakitnika area, and an electric reconnaissance drone retrieved between Tsarevo and Varvara. Military examinations confirmed that the recovered platforms contained no explosives, as reported by Bulgarian News Agency.
Specialists suggest that regional weather conditions, including strong northeastern winds and moderate waves, may be driving the floating hardware toward the shoreline. While widespread drone deployment characterizes the ongoing conflict in Ukraine within the broader Black Sea basin, Bulgarian authorities have not officially attributed the origin of the washed-ashore devices, with specialized teams continuing technical evaluations.
