U.S. defense technology company Palladyne AI and Ukrainian-Estonian drone developer NORDA Dynamics are collaborating to integrate Palladyne’s SwarmOS platform with NORDA’s Underdog Autonomy Module. The partnership combines decentralized multi-drone coordination with autonomous terminal guidance, allowing uncrewed systems to detect, track, and pursue targets while maintaining performance during GPS and communication disruptions. SwarmOS functions as the collaborative layer, utilizing decentralized communication to enable multiple platforms to share data and re-task assets dynamically. Meanwhile, NORDA’s Underdog module manages the final precision pursuit and terminal engagement. The system is designed to support counter-drone missions and complex operations through edge-based processing. All engagement decisions remain under human-on-the-loop oversight, with joint demonstrations subject to necessary government approvals.
NORDA president and chief executive Ben Wolff noted that the technology has been deployed across more than 200 units within Ukraine’s Defense Forces, with the Underdog 0.8 update achieving high mission effectiveness across thousands of real-world engagements
