The U.S. Army is testing the FireAnt ground robotic systems by mounting them on armored vehicles, as shown in footage published by drone manufacturer Swarmbotics AI.
Five of these compact, 27-kilogram robots were spotted on the side mounts of an M2A4 Bradley fighting vehicle belonging to the 1st Cavalry Division, with the systems currently undergoing active development, testing, and concept-of-operations refinement, as reported by Militarnyi.
Designed to operate in an AI-supported swarm, the FireAnt is capable of performing reconnaissance, communications relay, electronic warfare, and strike missions. During assault operations, a Bradley can deploy the swarm robots to enter dugouts and detonate from within, allowing dismounted infantry to conduct clearance operations without the risk of initial contact.
