The U.S. Army has awarded Griffon Aerospace a contract valued at up to $133 million to procure Outlaw unmanned aerial systems, associated support equipment, and field service representatives.
The firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreement was awarded on August 10 following a single solicited bid, as reported on the official website of the U.S. Department of Defense. Managed by the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama under designation W58RGZ-26-F-0404, the contract carries an estimated completion date of December 31, 2026. Specific operational locations and funding will be determined with each individual order placed under the arrangement.
The Outlaw is an aerial target drone system produced in Madison, Alabama, and has been utilized for years by air defense units as a stand-in threat to simulate incoming aircraft and missile targets during training exercises. The manufacturer introduced the Outlaw Gen 3 variant earlier this year, following the Army’s previous $67.9 million order on June 3 tied to support for Operation Epic Fury.
While the new August agreement does not specify exact platform quantities or whether it covers the newer Gen 3 variant specifically versus earlier iterations such as the Outlaw G2E, it reinforces the ongoing reliance on Griffon Aerospace for uncrewed aerial systems and target simulation support.
