Polish defense manufacturer WB Group has unveiled Gladius 2, a new loitering munition equipped with a turbojet engine for high-speed target runs and engineered with a reduced radar and heat signature.
Also referred to as Warmate 30, the weapon links directly to the manufacturer’s existing Warmate family of strike drones. The munition features an interchangeable 30 kg warhead and can be launched from a shipping container or a dedicated launcher vehicle. WB Group designed Gladius 2 to integrate into its broader reconnaissance-strike architecture, which pairs the FT-5 Łoś reconnaissance aircraft with strike effectors under the Topaz battle-management system. This network enables an operator to locate a target with one platform and engage it with another.
Development on the jet-powered variant began in September 2022, incorporating operational insights from the war in Ukraine. Initial visuals were presented earlier at industry events, followed by a full public introduction at the MSPO defense trade show in Kielce, reports WP Tech.
The designation Warmate 30 corresponds to the weapon’s warhead weight class, aligning it structurally with previous company models and placing it alongside lighter variants like the Warmate 3. While the Polish military has allocated significant funding to expand its existing Gladius and Warmate inventories—including contracts signed in May 2026 for over 400 Warmate systems, nearly 200 FlyEye drones, and 12 Gladius battery-level fire modules — WB Group has not clarified whether Gladius 2 or Warmate 30 constitutes part of those specific orders or forms a distinct future offering.
