Republic of Korea Air Force Operations Command Commander Lt. Gen. Jun Sun Cha held a series of high-level engagements with U.S. Air Force and Space Force leadership this month as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation across the Pacific. Cha met with Pacific Air Forces Commander Gen. Kevin Schneider to discuss regional security, and separately engaged with Space Forces Pacific Commander Brig. Gen. Brian Denaro and U.S. Space Guardians on integrated space operations.
The visit continued on September 4 at Osan Air Base, where Cha and ROKAF personnel joined Soldiers from the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Eighth Army, for a hands-on exchange of equipment and capabilities. Soldiers demonstrated their weapons systems and walked ROK and U.S. Air Force personnel through the hardware supporting combined air defense operations. Cha received a briefing on a military equipment control system and its role in air defense, as well as a separate briefing on drone capabilities and their potential to improve mission effectiveness and readiness.
During the same visit, U.S. Air Force and ROKAF members held a tactical discussion on countering small unmanned aircraft systems, exchanging tactics, techniques and procedures aimed at closing capability gaps and sharpening how the two forces respond to emerging aerial threats.
Officials from both sides described the exchange as part of an ongoing effort to build a more connected and ready combined force, reinforcing the interoperability and shared readiness underpinning the U.S.-South Korea alliance.
