Fighters from the NC13 strike ground combat drone unit of the Third Army Corps used upgraded kamikaze ground drones equipped with two Bullspike grenade launchers during the Vivaldi offensive operation.
The ground drones approached Russian positions and opened fire with the grenade launchers. They then continued moving toward enemy shelters and detonated directly inside them.
The Third Army Corps said that the robotic platforms performed several tasks at once: striking positions, exerting psychological pressure on the enemy, and clearing individual shelters.
According to the military, operators controlled the ground drones remotely from protected shelters located tens of kilometers from the line of contact.
The corps described this method of using robotic platforms as a new tactic that makes it possible to carry out some of the most dangerous tasks during an assault without involving Ukrainian infantry.
The Third Army Corps also stated that such a tactic had not previously been used in the history of warfare, describing NC13 as the world’s first strike ground combat drone unit to use this configuration and method of employment.
