Japanese Terra Drone, through its European subsidiary Terra Defense Europe, has acquired a 50% stake in Ukrainian company Kurin Technologies, which produces FPV interceptor drones. The deal is worth approximately ¥560 million, or about $3.5 million.
Kurin Technologies is based in Kyiv and develops unmanned systems to intercept Russian drones in the combat zone. The company’s main models are the KT-1 and KT-2. According to Terra Drone, they can reach speeds of more than 160 km/h and remain airborne for around 40 minutes.
Commercial deliveries of Kurin products began in late April 2026. The company has production capacity of more than 1,000 drones per month.
According to Terra Drone CEO Toru Tokushige, Kurin drones are already being used by units of the 3rd Army Corps. The Japanese company plans to use the Ukrainian manufacturer’s established military contacts to promote its other systems, including jet-powered interceptor drones, reconnaissance and modular UAVs, as well as UAVs equipped with missiles.
Terra Drone also plans to increase Kurin’s production capacity. The acquisition involves integrating the Ukrainian company into the Japanese corporation’s consolidated structure, with Kurin’s financial results to be included in Terra Drone’s reporting, according to the company’s press release.
