Ukrainian company Phantom Defence has developed the modular Mangal FPV drone interceptor. The system was presented at the IT Arena technology conference.
The system is designed to protect positions, facilities and military equipment from enemy drones. To intercept a drone, Mangal uses a special net with weights. The net opens when fired, physically entangling and bringing down the drone.
The module is designed for six charges. The system also has two cameras for improved visibility and situational monitoring, as well as an automatic target detection function that simplifies and speeds up threat detection for the operator. Dev.ua reported this.
Mangal can be installed as a stationary system, including for protecting checkpoints, trenches and infrastructure, or mounted on vehicles.
According to Phantom Defence representatives, the first production units of the interceptor could reach the market within the next few months.
