Danish defense developer Søens Tech has introduced the Shadowfin, a new underwater maritime drone created specifically to meet operational requirements for striking naval vessels and coastal infrastructure.
Measuring approximately 7 meters in length with a 50-centimeter diameter, the platform has a total weight of roughly 1.5 tons, which includes a 300-kilogram warhead. The structural design utilizes a standard 500-millimeter fiberglass pipe, allowing the manufacturer to achieve a unit cost of approximately €50,000. This price point remains significantly lower than typical autonomous underwater systems and comparable loitering munitions, according to UNN.
The vehicle is equipped with an upper mast featuring a GPS antenna and cameras, alongside modular accommodation points for additional sensor integration. Intended deployment targets encompass enemy ships, ports, bridges, and maritime terminals.
The Shadowfin is currently undergoing trials in Danish waters. Upon completion of initial testing phases, the manufacturer plans to transfer the first systems to Ukraine for operational field trials.
