Sea Machines Robotics has secured a five-year contract to supply rapidly deployable vessel autonomy systems to U.S. Special Operations Forces, allowing orders to be placed as operational requirements arise. The agreement involves portable autonomy kits designed to convert various crewed vessels into remotely operated or autonomous platforms within hours, enabling forces to adapt local or temporarily acquired watercraft without relying on purpose-built unmanned craft.
Each kit utilizes the company’s autonomous command-and-control technology to manage navigation and mission functions, supporting operations such as expeditionary logistics, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and maritime security. The systems can be integrated with watercraft of varying sizes and performance characteristics to reduce risks to personnel and high-value naval assets, according to a Sea Machines press release.
The five-year agreement follows a period of expansion for the company, which reported that sales bookings during the first part of the year were ten times higher than during the same period in 2025, driven by demand across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Earlier in the year, Leonardo DRS selected the company’s 8-meter STORMRUNNER autonomous vessel, powered by the SM300-SP command-and-control system, to demonstrate maritime counter-drone capabilities paired with a Leonardo DRS mission equipment package.
