Stratom secures $15.9 million US Army contract for TALUS autonomous logistics system

The Armored Cab is designed to meet the evolving needs of troops in theater, providing crew protection on a MILCOTS platform.

Stratom has secured a U.S. Army Project Sustainment contract to develop the Tactical Autonomous Logistics Utility System (TALUS). The modular autonomous distribution platform is designed to resupply dispersed military units operating within contested environments, bridging the sustainment gap between Brigade Support Areas and forward troops while reducing human exposure to threats.

The 18-month prototype effort carries a total anticipated project value of $15.9 million, as reported by The Robot Report. The primary objective is to integrate, mature, and deliver the capability directly to soldiers for operational evaluation. This process will include a Transformation in Contact unit rotation at a Combat Training Center, providing empirical data to guide the Army’s potential fielding decisions.

To accelerate integration and mitigate development risks, the project relies on militarized commercial off-the-shelf technology. Stratom serves as the lead integrator, providing its Summit off-road autonomy software alongside robotic cargo handling and manipulation systems.

The integration team features several industry partners: ND Defense supplies militarized platforms and armored cabs, while Forterra contributes its government-validated AutoDrive autonomy stack. Additional support includes model-based systems engineering and testing from GS Engineering, alongside hardware design, fabrication, and integration performed by Waltonen Engineering.
