The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has codified the Steppe Wind mid-strike unmanned aerial system, developed by Unwave in cooperation with Sky Composite Engineering partners.
Designed to neutralize stationary targets, armored vehicles, and personnel deployment sites, the system features a tactical radius of up to 70 kilometers, a maximum flight range exceeding 90 kilometers, and an endurance of up to 65 minutes.
The drone carries a payload of up to 5 kilograms and incorporates an independently engineered optical terminal guidance system capable of automated target acquisition from a distance of 1,000 meters, according to Unwave.
Operated via Ukrainian-manufactured digital communications equipment, the platform supports automatic, semi-automatic, and manual flight control modes. The complete system comprises five unmanned aerial vehicles, a ground control station, and a compact catapult launcher, allowing deployment within 20 minutes and recovery in 10 minutes without requiring specialized infrastructure.
