Germany to supply Ukraine with AI-equipped Wingcopter 262 reconnaissance drones

German reconnaissance drone Wingcopter 262

Ukraine is set to expand its aerial intelligence capabilities with the addition of the German-made Wingcopter 262 reconnaissance drone.

The tactical system features a flight range of up to 150 kilometers, a maximum endurance of up to six hours, and a takeoff weight of 10 kilograms. The aircraft utilizes a tilt-rotor design, a fully electric propulsion mechanism, and a wingspan of 262 centimeters, according to manufacturer Wingcopter GmbH.

The platform carries artificial-intelligence-assisted electro-optical and infrared camera systems alongside secure data and video transmission channels. Its positioning technology has undergone testing in real operational environments during the conflict. Designed with modular architecture, the system requires no specialized launch infrastructure, allowing a single operator to prepare the aircraft for flight впродовж minutes.

Beyond direct supply plans, Wingcopter GmbH is partnering with Ukrainian firm TAF Industries under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative. Representatives stated that the cooperation covers the serial production of Ukrainian reconnaissance drones and providing access to the “Wingcopter 262”.

This development follows an announcement by German defense firm ARX Robotics regarding the delivery of several hundred additional GEREON unmanned ground vehicles to support front-line logistics and casualty evacuation.
