President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed a series of successful long-range strikes against military and strategic infrastructure within Russia, releasing video footage and thanking Ukrainian forces for making the war tangible for the aggressor.
On the night of September 17, a joint special operation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Main Directorate of Intelligence, and the Foreign Intelligence Service targeted the Yaroslavl oil refinery, where a fire was recorded on its grounds.
Simultaneously, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out precise long-range drone strikes on the “Rostov-Central” military airfield in Rostov-on-Don. Operating through the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center, long-range drones successfully hit an An-12 military transport plane, two An-26 military transport aircraft, and three helicopters on the enemy aircraft parking area, triggering large-scale fires and secondary detonations of ammunition or fuel.
Highlighting that Ukraine responds daily to ongoing aggression and noting positive results in the Black Sea, the leadership emphasized that such operations form part of a systematic campaign targeting military and industrial assets that support Russia’s war effort.
