Ukrainian Railways has received Shatro Counter-Mesh electronic warfare systems free of charge to protect rolling stock and critical infrastructure facilities from unmanned aerial vehicles utilizing mesh networks.
The systems were initially handed over to railway workers for trial operation at the end of June. During testing, enemy UAVs equipped with mesh modems were detected within coverage areas ranging from 500 to 1,500 meters, prompting the drones to alter their flight paths upon entering the operating zone. This was reported by the company Unwave.
The system functions by suppressing communication links between a UAV’s mesh modem and other network nodes at distances of up to 1,000 meters, effectively preventing command transmission and disrupting coordinated drone operations.
