Soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team participated in counter-UAS training on August 29, 2026, at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center’s Hohenfels Training Area in Germany during exercise Saber Junction 26.
Personnel including Pfc. Kristopher Pelroy, an air traffic control operator, and Cpl. Tyler Dooros, a tactical unmanned aircraft systems operator with the 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, utilized ground control systems designed to disable unauthorized drones by jamming their navigation and control channels.
As reported by the DVIDS publication, this operational training aligns with the U.S. Army’s broader Continuous Transformation initiative, which integrates new technologies and systems to enhance warfighting readiness and crisis response capabilities.
