Ukrainian forces have received the Kaban remote vehicle control system, which converts conventional civilian and military vehicles into unmanned ground vehicles without requiring structural modifications. The technology has been delivered to the 3rd Army Corps, the 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade “Achilles,” and the 49th Brigade.
The comprehensive platform allows operators to rapidly switch between remote and manual driving modes, preserving standard vehicle functionality. Starlink serves as the primary communications channel alongside analog video transmission and radio control, while an automatic emergency stop triggers if communications fail. The system features a digital map for route planning, marker placement, and a driver-assistance display showing projected trajectories, as reported by the Militarnyi publication.
Vehicles equipped with Kaban can integrate additional equipment including infrared cameras, searchlights, net launchers, and drone deployment platforms. Primary missions include casualty evacuation, cargo transport, and frontline resupply to reduce personnel exposure on dangerous routes. Developed with support from the Brave1 defense technology cluster, the platform has already seen successful employment in combat operations.
