Estonian company Tempterno Defence has developed the Tempterno CP260 unguided mini-rocket designed to engage aerial and ground targets. A key advantage of the development is its low cost, which stands at around €1,000 per shot. The system was showcased at the MSPO international defense exhibition in Poland.
The approximately 1-kilogram munition has a maximum range of up to 2.5 km and an effective range between 200 and 500 meters. The rocket can be launched from multicopters, fixed-wing UAVs, ground launchers, or manually from the shoulder. The launcher itself is being developed by another Estonian firm, as reported by Militarnyi.
In its air defense configuration, the rocket utilizes a proximity fuze that detonates near the target, creating a cloud of tungsten-fragmentation elements. For the destruction of ground targets, including personnel and vehicles, high-explosive, incendiary, and anti-armor warheads are being developed. Company representatives note that this concept allows a UAV to be armed with multiple rockets to destroy a series of targets in a single flight, serving as a more cost-effective alternative to single-use kamikaze drones.
Currently, the rocket is manually guided using a camera mounted on the launcher, although developers are cooperating with Ukrainian enterprises on software integration for automated target detection and acquisition using artificial intelligence. Flight tests of the baseline version are already underway, while the completion of development and testing for the warhead lineup is expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
