The Monaco interceptor-UAV group of Ukraine’s 208th Brigade used a man-portable air defense system to shoot down a jet-powered Shahed strike drone in the south of the country on September 15.
This engagement highlights the varied methods deployed by Ukrainian air defense units, combining specialized interceptor drones with traditional portable surface-to-air missile systems to intercept enemy assets.
While the 208th Brigade’s units actively hunt aerial targets using interceptor drones, this specific operation demonstrated the effective use of a standard MANPADS against the jet-powered variant of the Shahed drone.
