Belgium orders three TRIDENT platforms for Ukraine for €9.9 million

Belgium’s Ministry of Defence has ordered three TRIDENT platforms for Ukraine from Exail Robotics Belgium. The contract is valued at €9.866 million.

The contract was officially awarded on September 14, 2026. TRIDENT stands for Tactical RHIB for Identification and Disposal of Explosive Naval Threats, a tactical platform for identifying and disposing of explosive maritime threats.

The platforms are intended to operate with the K-STER C system, an expendable Exail system for mine disposal. The TRIDENT platforms will support the deployment and operation of the system to strengthen Ukraine’s mine countermeasure capabilities.

The procurement was conducted through a negotiated procedure without prior competition. The procurement notice states that the reasons included the urgency related to the Ukrainian crisis and the protection of exclusive intellectual property rights.

The contract is set to run for 24 months.
