Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed an agreement worth 1.1 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $117.8 million) with General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada to supply Protector RS4 Remote Weapon Systems. The platforms will be integrated onto the Canadian Army’s Armoured Combat Support Vehicles as part of a follow-on order, extending an established industrial collaboration between the two defence contractors.
The Protector RS4 is a remotely operated weapon station designed for integration across various tactical vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, and naval platforms. As reported on the Kongsberg company page, the system features a stabilized four-axis architecture and advanced sensor suites, enabling accurate engagement while moving. The modular configuration supports diverse weapon calibers—including 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, and 12.7 mm machine guns, 40 mm automatic grenade launchers, and optional anti-tank guided missiles—allowing vehicle crews to operate under full armour protection.
While specific delivery schedules and exact unit numbers for the Canadian order remain undisclosed, the transaction follows a separate procurement earlier in 2026, where Patria contracted Kongsberg for €140 million to supply RS4 stations for over 300 Patria 6×6 vehicles.
