Dutch radar manufacturer Robin Radar Systems opened a larger operations center in Northern Virginia on August 26, supporting 20 new positions to accommodate an expanding North American business footprint.
The facility opening follows a 75 percent increase in U.S. sales of the company’s IRIS drone radars during the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year. The company attributes its broader growth trajectory—averaging 60 percent year-over-year over the past three years—to rising demand for drone detection across defense, government, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure sectors, as reported by Defense Industry Europe.
Amid this expansion, Robin Radar signed its largest U.S. agreement to date with a counter-unmanned aircraft systems integrator to support federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal customers. The company’s technology recently saw major operational deployment during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where over 30 IRIS radars provided persistent airspace awareness for government and local authorities across North America. Company executives noted that procurement decisions are increasingly shaped by operational lessons from recent conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, driving demand for systems capable of tracking and classifying targets in complex environments.
