Poland’s National Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into a deliberately caused fire at WB Electronics S.A. in Skarżysko-Kamienna, treating the incident as a suspected case involving foreign intelligence and a terrorist-related crime.
The fire, which broke out on August 31, 2026, was triggered by an explosive charge containing flammable materials placed on company premises, destroying warehouse facilities and causing an estimated 15 million Polish zlotys ($4 million) in damages, stated the National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland on X.
The facility is known for producing unmanned systems utilized by both the Polish and Ukrainian militaries. The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Kraków branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office, Poland’s Internal Security Agency, and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Police in Kielce. Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding potential suspects or the specific foreign intelligence service involved, and no arrests or charges have been made as the inquiry continues under an offense carrying a potential sentence of life imprisonment.
