Mass production of more than 5,000 long-range strike drones for Ukraine has commenced in the greater Munich area, following the completion of the first units by the German-American defense firm Auterion and its Ukrainian joint venture partner Airlogix.
Commissioned by the German federal government in an order valued at approximately 300 million euros, the contract is scheduled for completion by mid-2027. Production takes place at an unclosed location near Munich and a second facility in eastern Germany, covering two models with medium and extended ranges of up to 1,500 kilometers, according to Handelsblatt.
The systems combine Auterion’s software and operating system with Airlogix hardware, incorporating artificial intelligence to maintain target acquisition despite electronic warfare countermeasures. According to Auterion CEO Lorenz Meier, the collaboration establishes a high-volume manufacturing line for affordable precision weapons, while Airlogix CEO Vitaliy Kolesnichenko noted that the partnership merges battle-tested airframes with autonomous software and industrial capacity. The companies anticipate follow-on contracts and long-term procurement as part of ongoing military assistance for Ukraine.
