Other features: The MQ-1C Gray Eagle is a long-range, long-dwell unmanned aerial system (UAS) powered by a Heavy Fuel Engine (HFE) that supports the military’s single-fuel concept by running on jet or diesel fuel while delivering increased horsepower and fuel efficiency. Designed for high reliability, the platform features a triple-redundant flight control system, redundant control surfaces, and a fault-tolerant avionics architecture. Its extensive mission set encompasses wide-area ISR, convoy protection, IED detection, close air support, communications relay, and weapons delivery, carrying a payload of up to four Hellfire missiles.
Operating with over 90% system operational availability, the aircraft can be controlled from either a U.S. Army One System Ground Station or a GA-ASI GCS. It is equipped with an Automatic Takeoff and Landing System (ATLS) for fully autonomous, redundant launches and recoveries. Additional operational features include de-iced wings and tails, C-130 transportability, and advanced communication links such as TCDL line-of-sight satellite communications, over-the-horizon Ku-Band SATCOM, and TCDL air data relay capabilities.
